Wheelie bin casualties of war

The street sometimes looks like a war zone after the garbage removal truck has made its rounds.

MY green wheelie bin has been totally destroyed by the municipal workers who are responsible for garbage removal.

One wheel and the handles were broken off and the bin had a long crack on the side.

Our street sometimes looks like a war zone after the garbage removal truck has made its rounds here.

I reported this matter to the municipality and an official paid me a visit a few days later.

He informed me that I should pay an amount in at the municipal office after which they will provide me with a new bin.

At first I thought that he was joking, wanting me to pay for damages caused by municipal workers.

He took my bin away and needless to say I never received a new one.

As a matter of principal I then decided to buy a new bin from a local hardware shop, which obviously is now my property.

If the municipal workers break this bin again I will hold the municipality responsible for replacing it free of charge and I will personally deliver my garbage to the Mayor in his office until such time that I received a new bin at their expense.
