DESPITE having been convicted of rape and sentenced at the Empangeni Magistrate’s Court to seven years imprisonment, Slindelo Mdletshe (31) remains adamant he is innocent.
Mdletshe insists the 28-year-old victim willingly accompanied him home after a night out at the tavern in October last year, and that the act was consensual.
The victim, who had slight scratches on her neck, testified to being forced at knife-point and said Mdletshe attempted to strangle her.
She reported the matter and police arrested him the following day.
