Suspect in court on five child rape counts

A 38-year-old suspect will appear at the eSikhaleni Magistrate’s Court on 20 May facing charges of raping five neighbourhood children in Madlankala.

According to Ward 12 CPF Chairperson Jabulani Mtshali the accused began preying on the innocent children, aged between 9 and 11, early in 2015, repeatedly raping them three and four times, before they told their parents.

It is reported the man lured his victims to his house, enticing them with sweets before raping them.

‘He would then threaten to harm them, if they told anyone.

‘After the children told their parents, the suspect ran away, hiding in a church in eMabuyeni on the pretext of seeking spiritual healing, until the long arm of the law caught up with him in April,’ Mtshali said.
