Local snappers see the light

This month’s Coca-Cola bottle competition winner is a good example that studio photography is not just about capturing people.

LOCAL photographers enjoyed an interesting presentation on studio photography during the Beachcombers Photography Club’s monthly meeting last week.

Presented by member Hein Beukes, the session was based on the theoretical aspects of studio photography.

Practical explanations were given, explaining the balance between key, fill and rim light.

This month’s Coca-Cola bottle competition winner is a good example that studio photography is not just about capturing people.

The members were supplied with a plain Coca-Cola bottle and the goal was for the photographer to take one photo in any way they imagine.

Gerrit Dyman took both first and second places with his photos titled ‘Smoking Cola’ and ‘Tiny Bubbles’.

Hein Beukes took third place with ‘One flavour colourful memories’.

Next month’s interesting theme is ‘macro and close up’.

Visitors and photographers are invited to attend as guests on the first Tuesday of every month and share in the evening’s events at the NSRI base (next to Zululand Yacht Club) in Richards Bay.

Induction for new members begins at 6:15pm, and the club meeting at 7pm sharp.
