Slow motion lurch into anarchy

Criminal behaviour should be faced head on by the police, but instead they just sit on their hands and do nothing.

I READ with dismay about the torching of valuable property belonging to Richards Bay Minerals in the ZO of 6 May – ‘Millions up in smoke during protest’.

This together with the burning of 17 schools in Limpopo leaves me speechless.

South Africa is on a very real path into anarchy, where there is no longer any respect for law and order.

Criminal behaviour should be faced head on by the police, but instead they just sit on their hands and do nothing.

Your last paragraph says as much. No arrests were made and no cases opened.

What are these crazy people doing other than destroying their future prospects of employment?

I would just add that if this criminal behaviour had occurred during the Apartheid era, these events would be reported worldwide.

Instead the international media are strangely silent on what is going on in this country, as indeed they are about all the dreadful farm killings.

Little wonder that international investors are giving this country a wide berth.
