DESPITE the much needed torrential rain in Richards Bay, local athletes flocked to the Zululand Multi Sports Club (ZMSC) for the inaugural parkrun which had Comrades legend and parkrun CEO Bruce Fordyce and Dr Sibongiseni Dlomo (MEC of Health for KZN ) participating in the event.
The 5km route took athletes from the ZMSC down the gravel road past the Bay Hall into a single track forest trail, which looped back onto the gravel road heading back past the Bay Hall.
Athletes then ran over the causeway to Pelican Island, did a loop and then returned to the ZMSC.
