Water colour fest in Richards Bay
This was the second of three legs of the Grand Slam, and incorporated the SA Sailing KZN Youth Regional Championship 2016
LOCAL sailors Connor Tonks, Wayne Bird and Charlenne Kriedeman of the Zululand Yacht Club (ZYC) sailed to bronze in their respective classes at the KZN Grand Slam event hosted by the ZYC over the long weekend.
This was the second of three legs of the Grand Slam, and incorporated the SA Sailing KZN Youth Regional Championship 2016
The event proved popular, with 52 boats and 66 participants competing in seven classes but the winds were too light to make the event a spectacular one.
Entrants came from Cape Town, KZN, Gauteng and Western Cape, with the host club posting 1 entrants in total, of which six were part of the youth Sailing Development Program.
Results:
Dart Class – 1 Rob Samways 142 nett, 2 Gavin Wadsworth 146 nett and 3 Wayne Bird and Charlenne Kriedeman 150.5 nett.
Hobie 16 Class – Garth Loudon 96 nett, 2 Sean Fennessy 111 nett and 3 Wayne Smith 116 nett.
Laser Class – Alexandra Campbell 55 nett, 2 Cal Tomlinson 57.5 nett and 3 Lance Burger 64 nett.
Laser Radial Class – 1 Rob Tarboton 43 nett.
Open 1 Class – 1 Tristan Somerville 90.5 nett, 2 Kai Leslie 155 nett and 3 Connor Tonks 155 nett.
Open 2 Class – Ralph Thorpe 97 nett, 2 Coert Grobbelaar 136 nett and 3 Dylan Alberts 149 nett.
Youth Class – 1 Matt Ashwell 10 nett, 2 Alex Falcon 12 nett and Tristan Tomlinson 34 nett.
