KZN Goalkeepers Coaching will host a youth training camp on 26–30 June at the Durban KZN Costal TVET College, Umbumbulu Campus (KwaMakhutha).
KZN Goalkeepers Coaching was introduced in 1998 by Sipho Zimba, currently the goalkeeper coach for Thanda Royal Zulu FC and who played in the PSL for a number of sides including Bush Bucks, AmaZulu and African Wanderers.
Zimba and other ex- professional stoppers qualified as goalkeeper trainers with SAFA at various levels and since the programme was introduced it has helped many goalkeepers who are now in the PSL, NFD clubs, Motsepe 2nd Division and SAB Leagues.
‘The aims and objectives of KZN Goalkeepers Coaching is to teach young players the good basics of goalkeeping according to their age groups, such as techniques, tactics and physical and psychological preparation, to prepare them to play professionally,’ said Zimba.
‘After the camp, all participants will be given a DVD produced in 2015 by KZN Goalkeepers Coaching, and a certificate of attendance.
‘Scouts for PSL club coaches will also attend to identify young talent of all ages.
‘The camp also includes a workshop for goalkeeper coaches and any other interested parties.
