RHINOS 1 picked up their first win of the season when they beat Newcastle Highlanders 38-10 in a Fidelity Security Moor Cup match in Newcastle on Saturday.
‘I am very happy with the win and the performance that the players put in on Saturday. But we still have a lot of work to do in the scrums,’ said Rhinos 1 head coach Riaan Pienaar. ‘We are still not at the level we need to be. This week we will tweak a couple of things leading up to our match against South Coast Warriors – a must win match for us.
‘I do not want to change much as I am happy with the last two performances.’
Rhinos ran in six tries and played positive, attacking rugby with numerous counter-attacks.
The forwards provided front-foot ball for the elusive backline which created gaps in the home team’s defensive line.
In the earlier match, Rhinos 2 went down 25-22 to Newcastle.
Rhinos 1 and 2 will take on South Coast Warriors at Mick Kelly Park on Saturday.
Kick-off times is 1.30pm and 3pm.
