FAMILY Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) units across the province emerged triumphant from the battle against crime waged over March.

From 1 to 31 March, 295 suspects were arrested for an array of offences ranging from rape, sexual assault, statutory and attempted rape to violations of protection orders, child abandonment and child pornography.

Dedicated teams of detectives shuttled to and from various courts throughout the province in pursuit of justice on behalf of the victims.

They secured 39 convictions, including two life sentences, while the other accused collectively received 415 years imprisonment.

The remaining suspects are held in custody, awaiting their cases to be heard.
