THE good turnout on Thursday evening indicated the level of interest in the budget process from the cluster of City of uMhlathuze Ward Committee members.
Held in the auditorium at the Richards Bay civic centre, the public participation programme included presentations on the factors that influence the budget and saw the budget itself unpacked and explained.
Senior municipal officials and ward councillors were also present in numbers, keen to make the public feel a part of the financial decisions taken by council by allowing for questions and input from the wards.
Chief Financial Officer of the City of uMhlathuze, Mxolisi Kunene, who also sits on the Accounting Standards Board of the national Minister of Finance, takes ward committee members through the budget process
