JUST a short letter of support for Johan Klue (ZO, 4 April) regarding the noisy festivals in town.

This is not the first or last time we will hear the same complaints from community members about the noise at all-night music festivals.

These are held in the centre of Richards Bay, in close proximity of the local hospital, police station and hotels where business people and visitors stay over to rest.

We could hear the noise kilometres away as it continued until after sunrise the following day.

Many people in surrounding neighbourhoods are shift workers and could not sleep.

The practice should simply be stoped at the ‘Sports Grounds’, especially when it will continue after midnight, and the person(s) issuing the licence and organisers should be held accountable and prosecuted if there is any transgression.

There is more than enough space at the ZCBF show grounds for music festivals, and that will not have an impact on the community. Why not use that?

Despite how the community feels about it organisers get away with it because there is no consequence to anyone, and there is never a response from the authorities in this regard.
