Five schools win water tanks

Mjabulisweni Secondary, Stanger Training Centre, Lizwe High School, Arboretum Primary School and Enhlanzini Primary School were chosen for having the best water saving initiatives.

FIVE local schools who entered the Walk for Water competition this month have won JoJo water tanks, sponsored by the Richards Bay Industrial Development Zone, Richards Bay Coal Terminal and South32.

These donations will help the schools minimize the effects of the drought.

Mjabulisweni Secondary, Stanger Training Centre, Lizwe High School, Arboretum Primary School and Enhlanzini Primary School were chosen for having the best water saving initiatives.

The winners were announced at the Walk for Water event held in Richards Bay on Saturday, where more than 400 Zululanders joined the march, led by City Mayor Mduduzi Mhlongo, around the CBD to raise awareness of the region’s critical water scarcity.

More than 2 000 litres of water was collected to be distributed to communities severely impacted by the worst drought KZN has seen in 95 years.
