SIXTEEN people have been arrested after they were alleged to have stoned to death a murder suspect.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning at Candova near Mkhuze.
‘One of the victim’s family members tried to apprehend the murder suspect, however, the family member was stabbed, sustaining minor injuries.
‘The man then fled the scene,’ said Lieutenant Nqobile Gwala of the KZN SAPS Media Centre.
The suspect was later allegedly caught and killed by community members.
The 16 stoning suspects were charged with murder and are expected to appear at Ubombo Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (Tuesday).
