Cops hot on serial rapist’s trail

A community continues to live in fear as a serial rapist prowls

POLICE say they are hot on the trail of the man they believe has raped at least 10 women in the KwaNdaya Reserve area near eSikhaweni between February and October last year.

This was confirmed by Empangeni Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) unit commanding officer, Colonel Makhosi Ncube.

The 10 victims who have come forward so far all described the same modus operandi.

According to their reports, the man broke into their homes in the early hours of the morning.

Armed and wearing a stocking over his head to disguise himself, he then forced the women from their homes to nearby bushes or abandoned houses where he raped them at gunpoint.

One of the victims was just 13 years old.

‘Our suspect did not wear a condom when he raped these women, so we managed to obtain DNA samples and rape kits from each of the victims and are waiting for DNA analysis before we can move forward with the investigation,’ said Col Ncube.

He noted that since media reports appared, the serial rapist has not attacked again.

The community however, is still live in fear that he could strike again at any moment.
