8 BALL pool players Dieter Heinen and Lani Wehrle have been chalking up their cues and practicing hard ahead of the upcoming South African 8 Ball pool trials to be held in Secunda, Mpumalanga at the end of April.
Heinen will be competing in the KZN Pool Federation (KZNPF) senior men’s team, with Wehrle representing the KZN Pool Federation ladies team.
The pair practices two hours every day on their table at home, focusing on their break and cushion shots.
Heinen has been playing pool for 20 years and has been representing KZN for three years.
He is also a qualified referee for the SA ladies team and will be receiving his Springbok referee colours next year.
He is also the KZNPF marketing and development officer.
Lani started playing pool 2008 after working in a bar, and was ranked 16-32 out of 11 000 players at the SA 8 Ball Pool Championships last year in Worcester.
The couple would like to start a pool league in Richards Bay.
