Bay police quick on the draw

Police recover 34 ton side tipper trailer in Mzingazi

TWO Johannesburg businesswomen undertook a journey of faith to Richards Bay to find their 34 ton side tipper (truck trailer) which has been missing for almost a year.

Bathabile Serei and her daughter Khahliso’s prayers were answered last Tuesday when local police recovered their equipment in Mzingazi.

The women who live in Soweto and run a trailer hire business in Boksburg, hired out a double trailer in January 2015, but when the customer failed to return it they launched a search for their property.

The Sereis said the client had given them false details, but had stated he was from Richards Bay.

‘On Friday we decided to drive to Richards Bay and look for the trailer.

‘We just came with hope and a prayer and opened a case at the Richards Bay Police Station on Monday. By Tuesday police had acted on the information and recovered our trailer.

‘It is in such a poor condition and the one trailer bin is missing. We hope to still trace it as we believe it is undergoing repair work somewhere in town.’

The cost to transport it back home is about R20 000.

The Sereis had just started their business last year with the one trailer and have not been able to operate since.

The women commended the Richards Bay detectives and police for their superb work and professionalism in handling the case.
