Ulundi man rapes teen stepdaughter

The 25-year-old man was sentenced to life imprisonment

THE Ulundi Regional Court convicted and sentenced a 25-year-old man to an effective life imprisonment for raping his 16-year-old stepdaughter.

He was sentenced on 5 February after the court heard how he had raped the victim a number of times since November 2012, while the victim’s mother was at work.

On 30 November 2014, the victim’s mother found that her daughter was not at home.

When the daughter arrived at home, her mother did not believe her daughter’s story that she was with friends.

The girl eventually told her mother that she preferred to tell the police what happened to her.

At the police station she said that she was raped by her stepfather.

The Ulundi Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit took over the investigation that led to the arrest of the accused.
