Zululander Kyle Abbott to take charge for the Proteas
Proteas look to Abbott to lead bowling charge

AFTER a dismal bowling performance which saw the England side reach their highest-ever ODI score (399/9) in the first ODI against the Proteas in Bloemfontein, the SA team will look at Kyle Abbott to take charge in tomorrow’s game at St George’s Park in PE.
Abbott who has played 20 ODI’s thus far in his career, possess a different skill set that is missing in the Proteas attack at the moment.
The 28-year-old bowls a fuller length in order to swing the new ball up front and also adapts his bowling during powerplays and at the back end of an innings.
His slower-ball variations come in good effect, and he is one of the few SA bowlers to deliver the Yorker consistently.
With Steyn ruled out and Rabada still resting after his Test duties, Abbott seems to be the go-to man at the moment.
The Proteas will put their performance at Mangaung Oval behind them and look to square the ODI series up at one-a-piece come tomorrow.
St George’s will be a different pitch, not like the ‘bowler’s graveyard’ one in Bloemfontein.
But with batting Maverick’s like Jos Buttler, Ben Stokes and Joe Root, bowling coach Charl Langeveldt will have to work some magic to restrict the tourists to a defendable or chase able total.
Either way, tomorrow’s game is going to be a cracker.
Action gets underway at 10am.
