WATCH: Blizzard paradise for zoo giant

Tian Tian, the Smithsonian Zoo's giant panda, rolled around in the snow following the winter storm Jonas

WITH thousands of flights shut down and nearly 20 people having lost their lives, the Washington and New York City have effectively been shut down after suffering a severe blizzard.

But as the East Coast continues to hunker down under a record blanket of snow thanks to winter storm Jonas, a fuzzy black and white stalwart came out to adorably roll in the at least 20 inches of cold white flakes that have accumulated in Washington D.C.

Tian Tian, a panda bear who lives at the Smithsonian National Zoo, was over the moon about the inclement weather.

The zoo posted a heart-tugging video on Instagram of the famous animal rolling around in the fluff with the caption ‘Tian Tian woke up this morning to a lot of snow, and he was pretty excited about it. #Blizzard2016’

The 265-pound male giant panda slid down a small hill, and rolled around in the snow in ecstasy.

He then tossed the cold flakes on his face, and got so excited, he stuck his foot in his mouth.

Giant panda bears have woolly fur coats that can grow up to four inches thick, thus keeping them warm and insulated from cold weather.

Tian Tian, who is 19 years old, was born in China, is the father of Bei Bei, born to mother panda Mei Xiang’s on August 22. Bei Bei experienced his first snow storm today – and was less than impressed.
