Music show to boost City tourism
Thousands of visitors are expected to flock in to Richards Bay today (Thursday)

THE region’s tourism sector will benefit from thousands of visitors expected to flock into the City for the 6th annual uThungulu Last Dance show at the Richards Bay Sports Complex today (Thursday).
It will be party time, big time, as the new year is seen in with song and dance.
Speaking on national television this week, organiser Sipho Ndaba, said the event is aimed at promoting tourism and boosting the City’s economy.
‘This district is rich with history, heritage, township lifestyle and wildlife. This will ensure that visitors have a long list of things to choose from during their stay in the area.
‘Not only do we have one of the biggest ports in the country, but the area is the economic hub of the district ‘ he said.
Ndaba also said leaders will be part of a special memorial, which will pay tribute to the late uThungulu District Municipality Mayor, Thulani Mashaba, who died in a tragic car accident this year.
‘This event started in his office, and we will remember him for his contribution to making it a success,’
According to uMhlathuze Municipality Mayor Mduduzi Mhlongo, all accommodation and tourism establishments are now booked to the highest capacity.
‘We are excited to hold this huge event which will have direct impact on our tourism drive.
‘With various activities such as the Beach Festival and other tourism events, we will attract many national and international visitors.
‘This is a tranquil city and a great tourism destination. Beyond all the festive activities, these people will want to visit again to our attractions,’ said Mhlongo.
With local bed and breakfast, guest house establishments and hotels already fully booked for the weekend, it is expected to also be a prosperous period for other businesses.
