District geared to bring dignity to the disadvantage
Our bulk water schemes have changed the lives of our rural citizens and we have also achieved 100% sanitation provision at Mthonjaneni and Ntambanana.
AS we conclude the year 2015 it is a time to reflect on the achievements of the past year and to plan for the incoming year.
We have achieved many successes in the past five years of this current term of council.
We have taken services to the far reaches of the district, battled a severe drought and brought a smile to many grateful hearts.
The year to come will see the culmination of our efforts as we celebrate 16 years of local government.
The district is a water services authority for five of the local municipalities in uThungulu district, namely Umfolozi, Ntambanana, Umlalazi, Mthonjaneni and Nkandla.
Our bulk water schemes have changed the lives of our rural citizens and we have also achieved 100% sanitation provision at Mthonjaneni and Ntambanana.
We have formed a district Youth Council, Disability Forum, Senior Citizens and SMME support forums.
Empowerment
In 2016 we will take our work to new heights with a concentrated effort on improving the quality of life of the disadvantaged.
Youth empowerment will be promoted through increased access to our procurement processes.
We will not rest until we have brought dignity and hope to the elderly, the vulnerable and the marginalised members of our society.
The incoming year heralds great hope for this wonderful nation that we call our home.
We have the most beautiful tourism attractions, wonderful and friendly citizens and strong infrastructure.
South Africa and uThungulu District Municipality hold the promise of a future that shines bright for the people of our country.
In a few days we will receive our matric results and it will be the start of an optimistic future for the class of 2015.
I am confident that we will see the fruit of the hard work put in by the learners, teachers and parents of the matriculants and they will see the start of the new chapter of their lives.
We have faith in the youth of this country for they will lead us to greater heights on the international stage.
I wish the people of the district a joyful, peaceful and prosperous new year.
May God bless you all as you embark on the fresh start to the year.
To those who are travelling I wish you safe journeys home and to your destinations. May the flag of the uThungulu district fly high in 2016.
Happy New Year to you all.
