Chopping and dicing for DICE

History was made in the sense that it was the largest gathering of super cars ever seen in Zululand

CHARITY was the winner at the end of the weekend, as the Zululand community together supported DICE (Do I Care Enough) at two events – the DICE Chef Competition on Friday night, and the Dice4DICE car extravaganza on Saturday and Sunday.

Both events were kindly hosted by the Umfolozi Hotel Casino Convention Resort in Empangeni.

To open the weekend, the Dome thundered with applause on Friday night as Nam Jai House Chef Louis Congolo was announced winner of the DICE Chef Competition 2013.

Three hundred and fifty guests had filled the venue to sample and score main course and dessert dishes from six top Zululand chefs.

Popular Richards Bay ‘foodie’ Donald Bruins-lich of The Don Group/Porky’s was placed second overall, while Umolozi Hotel Casino Convention Resort head chef Jason de Boer took third.

Wheeling and dealing

Over R150 000 was raised when super car owners put their hands deep into their wallets on Saturday night to show their appreciation for a well-run car showDice4DICE event held on Saturday, which was well supported despite the wet weather.

History was made in the sense that it was the largest gathering of super cars ever seen in Zululand.

Traffic officials were on hand to escort the Ferraris, Nissan GT-Rs, Porsches, BMWs, a McLaren and a Lamborghini through the streets of Empangeni, Mtunzini and Richards Bay.
