A CONTRABAND cigarette operation was snuffed out by the Hluhluwe SAPS during a ‘stop and search’ campaign on the R22 near the False Bay turn-off on Thursday.
KwaMsane SAPS spokesperson, Captain Jabulani Mdletshe, says two South African females were arrested after police found 15 cases of Zimbabwean-branded cigarettes in the women’s bakkie.
Mdletshe says the cigarettes have a street value of around R150 000.
‘Experts believe the boxes were brought through the Mozambique-South Africa border and were destined Durban.’
The suspects were arrested at 3pm on charges of possession of counterfeit goods and will appear at the Hluhluwe Magistrates Court tomorrow (Tuesday).
