The real reason for road deaths

It is about time we start calling a spade a spade

I REFER to your report in the ZO of 27 September page 1 and 2 ‘Cable theft claims two lives’ as well as your letter of the week, ‘How many must die?’ page 13.

It is about time we start calling a spade a spade!

The accident at the John Ross/eSikaleni intersection was not caused by cable theft or the lack of overhead lights, but by people disobeying traffic and road rules.

Motorists, and especially buses and heavy trucks ignore the four-way stop signs at this intersection.

Yes, I agree with Mr Joubert, where is the law enforcement?

There have been many fatal accidents there, even when the traffic lights were working.

Unless road users obey the laws of the road, people will carry on dying at that intersection, unfortunately, the innocent as well.

So please, call ‘a spade a spade’.
