Developing the game of golf in KZN

Local youth participated in the Golf Development day at the Empangeni Country Club

DEVELOPMENT youth golfers from the Ilembe, Zululand and uThungulu districts participated in the Golf Development Day at Empangeni Country Club on Thursday.

The event, which was hosted by the KZN Golf Association in conjunction with the KZN Department of Sports and Recreation, used this occasion to see how well the youth are developing in the game of golf, from the lessons and academies they attend.

All participants were escorted by two officials during their round of 18 holes, where they were taught the rules of the game and were given advice on stroke play, club selection, reading the greens etc.

The golfers were split into three divisions, namely – A Division (0-9 handicaps), B Division (10-15 handicaps) and C Division (16 and up handicaps).

The A and B divisions followed a stroke play format, whilst the C division followed an IPS format.
