This as reported in the ZO of 4 December, ‘Relief fund misleads farmers’.
How can the provincial department promise farmers, who are having a really hard time of it at the moment, assistance and then when the farmers do what they are told to do to access the aid, change the ball park by moving the goal posts.
How do you promise someone something, letting them see and touch it, and then tell them that they can’t have it.
It’s outright lies and messing with people’s livelihood.
The farmers were ‘promised’ that at some stage they would be contacted, and informed when they can collect their water and feeding tanks. They need these now, not in the some distant, unknown future.
And we also all know about the ‘promises’ government, both provincial and national, make.
Yes, I may be a cynic, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if these very same tanks are being ‘sold’ to someone else.
All the farmers are then told is, ‘Eish, we’re sorry – angazi!’ Deal with it!
Why make these promises at all. If there is no money for these tanks, then say so.
But no, then they might lose votes – votes that are in essence being ‘bought’ by these false promises.
Well, after this debacle, good luck with getting the votes – you won’t be getting my mine!
