VIDEOS: Rotary moves and shakes for charity

Some of the guests put their music knowledge into dance moves.

IT was another raucous, hilarious night for charity as Rotary Richards Bay hosted its 11th offering of the popular Music Trivia evenings at the Zululand Multi Sports Club on Friday.

There were a number of new teams competing for top honours in music knowledge against the ‘habitual offenders’, the format being a number of rounds where song titles, words, vocalists and tunes must be identified.

With categories ranging from 60s rock ‘n roll to modern day hit parade stuff, there was plenty of opportunity to get answers either right or wrong – with special penalties for the latter.

DJ Keith Eaton of K&R Entertainment ensured a steady flow of music and there was a good bit of dancing, singing and humour to fill in the gaps while scores were being tallied.

But behind all the fun and games was a serious motivation to elicit donations for worthy Rotarian causes.

One is the Sekusilezulu Creche Sanitation Project, which will build proper toilet facilities at the crèche in Mzingazi.

The other was for the purchase of solar powered lights that will enable learners to read and study during load shedding or where there is no electricity supply.

And while those present opened their hearts and their purses, there was no doubt the present recession had taken its toll on welfare spending.

It’s just a jump to the left
