VIDEO: Cop killer car searched for clues

UPDATE: Bullet holes are clearly visible in the passenger door of the car.

POLICE forensic experts are urgently searching for clues from one of the vehicles used by criminals who shot dead one policeman and seriously wounded another at Gingindhlovu yesterday.

The car, a white Toyota Auris previously reported stolen in Umbilo, has been taken to an SAPS lab where crime scene technicians are examining every detail of the vehicle and its contents, probing for fingerprints or other leads that will help to identify the ruthless suspects.

They were part of a large gang in two vehicles, the other a Quantum, who opened fire on the officers when they approached.

No arrests have yet been made but blood on both the front and back seats of the Auris indicate the criminals did not escape unscathed.

Hospitals and clinics in the province will be checked for wounded patient admissions.
