US soccer bans junior players from heading the ball

Do you think this is a good idea or is it turning children soft on the sports field?

DUE to concussion fears, the soccer governing body in America – US Soccer – has banned children under the age of 13 from heading the ball during soccer matches in that country.

Officials have decreed that heading the ball should not be allowed for any player aged under ten, and should only be allowed during practice sessions for those aged 11 -13.

Presently the rules will only be applied in the Youth National Teams, Development Academy, including MLS youth teams.

Do you think this is a good idea or is it turning children soft on the sports field?
