Pink speed machine for cancer survivor
Kym is a cancer survivor and to remind her of her battle with the disease, she had the bike's panelling custom painted in a bright, lively pink.
When local biker Kym le Roux recently decided to get a new set of wheels, she not only chose one of the latest high performance machines, but also added her own personal touch to the big Suzuki GSX S1000 FA.
Kym is a cancer survivor and to remind her of her battle with the disease, she had the bike’s panelling custom painted in a bright, lively pink.
To make the bike’s custom paint job even more significant, she also had motives embossed within the paintwork, all which have special meaning to her.
On the fairing are two big Yin and Yang symbols, one on either side, which are similar in design as the tattoos which she shares with her husband Phillip.
The GSX’s nose sports the rock band Metallica’s logo, and underneath the title of her and Phillip’s wedding song, Nothing Else Matters, which is one of Metallica’s greatest hits and Kym’s favourite song.
On each rearview mirror is a cross, which to Kym, symbolises her relationship with God and her belief that it is only owing to His grace that she managed to beat cancer.
Parked outside in the sun, the superbike looks like its alive when the sun plays on the pink glittered paint job.
Kym says she’s over the moon to be the owner of such a beautiful machine and according to Jaco Viviers, owner of Suzuki Richards Bay, Kym is the first lady in the country to own the recently launched GSX S1000 FA.
She used to ride smaller bikes, says Kym, but has learned gradually to handle the bigger machines thanks to Phillip’s guidance.
So next time you see a flash of brilliant pink go past, know that you have been overtaken by the fastest cancer survivor in the country.
