OVAL Track Racing is back!
After a six-week break the drivers are champing at the bit and ready to race.
The penultimate leg of the Richards Bay Hotrod Club’s 2015 season will take place this Saturday at the ZCBF grounds, where racing will be tough to say the least.
Ninjas
Most classes will see a fierce challenge up front with some drivers having as little as 10 points between them.
Nathan Strydom is the current leader in the Ninja Class, but Dennis Clarke has been slowly narrowing the gap.
Clarke’s championship dreams, however, could be shattered owing to injury and he may have to settle for second.
The rookies in the Quarter Midgets are all hammer-and-tongs with a very close top four.
1660s and Hotrods
The 1660s will be coming back from a national event to continue battle as Martie de Jager and Hannes Olivier try to knock Joe Fleming from the top with his 40 point lead.
Jason Loosemore continues to lead the Pinto Class over Erin Garvie with a 53 point lead, however with the competitiveness in which these youngsters do battle anything can happen.
Neville Loosemore continues to dominate the Hotrod Class, but the return of Okkert Britz and Boetie van Tonder promises exiting racing for Michelle Loosemore and visiting drivers Andries du Preez and Phillip Jacobs.
Stockrods
The ever growing Stockrod field has had to be split into an A and B Class owing to the numbers.
The A Class should see Neil Strydom and Tjaard Kruger battling up front with the likes of AD Oxley, Steven Strydom and Ciara Frara fighting for honours in the first corner.
It’s a golf thing…
Derek Exley makes his return and is sure to upset the apple cart, while Riaan Coertse continues to maintain his third position on the log.
The drivers who will be driving in the B Class are still to be decided, so all will be out to show their worth in the quest for A Class status.
Family fun
Gates open at 1pm with racing starting at 6pm.
This meeting’s special is a family deal where, between 4.30pm and 5.30pm, a family of four pay only R150.
