BASED on incorrect information sent to the Empangeni SAPS, and in turn provided to the Zululand Observer, it was incorrectly stated in an article last week that a stolen excavator had been recovered at Umfolozi Hardware.
‘The fact of the matter is that this was a civil case based on a private deal during which police investigators were misled by the complainant,’ said Captain Mbongeni Mdlalose.
‘We apologise for any inference Umfolozi Hardware might have been linked to criminal activity.’
