Meet the car loving cats in Empangeni
Autoforum Motors in Empangeni have worked cat food into the dealership's budget.
WHEN Autoforum Motors in Empangeni pulled the first Peugeots into the new showroom two years ago, a cat also moved in.
Employees at the dealership felt sorry for the animal because, judging by its rough look, it had been homeless for quite some time.
So instead of giving it the boot they named it Meow and worked cat food into the dealership’s budget.
Meow was later joined by another cat, who was named Thomas, and today Meow and Thomas are as part of Autoforum Motors as the Peugeots and Mahindras it sells.
‘They both have their own personalities and peculiarities,’ says Autoforum Sales Executitive, Marcel Smith.
‘Meow, although having been there the longest, keeps to himself and will only come into the showroom on Saturdays.
‘Thomas, on the other hand, has made himself at home and can be found lounging in the dealership every day.
‘Meow doesn’t like to be touched and will ‘ninja’ you if you dare try, while Thomas will occasionally allow people to give him a rub,’ says Marcel.
Whether the two cats felt a connection with the Peugeot cars, the brand’s logo being a lion, only they will know.
Fact is they have found a home where they are well looked after and they are happy being showroom cats.
