UPDATE: Foskor management meet protesters

Management address picketers today as march continues.

FOSKOR management will today (Monday) address staff members protesting since Thursday morning to reach a consensus over salary format grievances.

Members of the Chemical Energy Paper Printing Wood & Allied Workers Union (CEPPWAWU) are demonstrating for existing payslips to be altered to a basic salary format, as well as the implementation of salary scales, pay progression criteria and bonuses.

But the company is confident about finding an amicable solution, saying discussions have already progressed well.

With the exception of momentary disruptive behaviour on Friday morning, the marchers have been described as quiet and peaceful by members of the Richards Bay police and the Public Order Policing unit.

There have been no disruption on the John Ross Parkway.

‘We just received complaints about protesters stopping vehicles at the Foskor entrance at around 7am, but things quickly simmered down,’ said Richards Bay SAPS spokesperson, Captain Debbie Ferreira.
