IN an effort to make this festive season one to remember, community members flocked to St Catherine’s last week to hand in their donations for the Santa Shoebox Project.
A total of 600 boxes lined the school library halls, ready for final inspection by the pupils and volunteers.
Among the community donations, Hills Howard donated 46 boxes, Empangeni Round Table 10 boxes and Empangeni Rotary Club pledged 70 boxes.
The St Catherine’s Interact club, with the help of past and current pupils, filled 300 boxes.
The boxes will be distributed to the various orphanages and crèches in the area throughout the festive season.
For those who are still wanting to pledge and donate to the Santa Shoebox project, the deadline day for the Richards Bay station is today (Friday, 30 October) and tomorrow.
Make your way to the Trellis Door offices at Lakeside mall and leave your boxes with organizer Cheryl Craig.
