Cash walks CANSA’s way

Proceeds of the inaugural Cancer Day Nite event were handed over to CANSA uThungulu.

CANSA uThungulu was thrilled to accept a check of R93 514.70 from the proceeds of the inaugural Cancer Day Nite event.

Members of the planning committee and the winner of the KBC Health & Safety competition for the school with the most walkers and winner of the trophy for most funds raised, Anna Muis, were in turn proud to be able to hand over such a significant amount.

‘We thank each and every person who got involved by either fund-raising towards the event, sponsoring prizes or entering teams,’ said event Chairperson Barbara Moscicki.

‘Without your help we would not have been able to raise the funds needed by CANSA to roll out services.

‘The money will be used to repair CANSA House situated in Empangeni, to accommodate needy patients who undergo treatment in Richards Bay for extended periods, and for education and awareness campaigns in the uThungulu Region.’

CANSA uThungulu Community Mobiliser Lizzy van Zyl in turn praised the committee for their loyal support and hard work.

‘We will keep everyone updated on the progress of renovations at the house and will ensure all the funds are wisely utilised,’ she said.
