Traffic cops robbed during traffic stop

TWO Nongoma traffic officers were held at gunpoint by an armed gang near Hlabisa on Sunday.

The officers were on duty when they stopped a white Audi with no front number plate.

On closer inspection, they found the car also had no license disc.

Four occupants jumped out of the vehicle armed with rifles and ordered the officers to lie down on the ground.

The suspects grabbed their 9mm state firearms and sped off towards Mtubatuba.

A case of armed robbery was opened at the Hlabisa SAPS.
