‘Gone phishing?’

Grantleigh presented their annual theatre production

‘ALL the world’s a stage’ said William Shakespeare – and as our world is constantly expanding into cyber space, this saying remains as true today as it did hundreds of years ago.

Grantleigh presented their annual theatre production ‘Gone Phishing’ after Margie Taylor spent months brainstorming, designing costumes and gathering relevant poems, songs and various other components to enhance the various scenes that she transferred from her head to the stage.

The result?

A modern day romp through the virtual world of cyber space with each grade depicting web pages.

The main characters, Georgina and James Armstrong and Josie Dobbin, led the audience through one scene to the next looking for the ‘Easter egg’ – the webmaster’s signature and loop-hole on a web page – from each class that would help save the Internet from disappearing into oblivion.

In addition to such a momentous task, the trio was being pursued by James Bond (Harting Harmse) and his sneaky secret agents (Savanna Boulle and Dylan Martin).

On their journey through cyberspace, they encountered feisty fairies and wild pirates and a rock ‘n roll crocodile in a competitive ‘Neverland’s Got Talent’ show.

They experienced high-speed space travel, watched a spine-chilling dance representing our relationships with computer viruses in our everyday lives, and were given a history lesson on viruses by graceful Grecian dancers and lavishly adorned palace guards.

It was a show of which even Shakespeare and ‘geeks’ alike would be proud of.
