MEMBERS of the SAPS K9 Unit and National Intervention Unit arrested a 45-year-old murder suspect in Melmoth on Saturday.
He was wanted for a case of murder committed on 29 November 2014 in Cato Manor, when a man was fatally stabbed after an alleged altercation with the suspect, who reportedly went into hiding.
Provincial Crime Intelligence members worked tirelessly and finally located the suspect in Melmoth where he was working for a political party as a Regional Organiser for the Umthonjaneni District.
Police proceeded to the Melmoth Town Hall where the party was having a meeting and arrested the suspect, who investigators believe is also linked to various murder cases committed at the KwaMashu Hostel..
He was taken to his place of residence in Makhasaneni and his house was searched and is expected to appear in the Durban Magistrates Court soon.
