Locals can give refugee crisis support

Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres) will be in Richards Bay this week.

AS part of their KZN tour, Doctors Without Borders (Medecins Sans Frontieres) will be in Richards Bay this week sharing their experiences on relief work in response to refugees fleeing to Europe from war-torn countries.

The fundraising tour will interact with the public at the Boardwalk Inkwazi shopping centre from Tuesday to Friday, where they will explain the organisation’s worldwide medical relief work.

Since May this year, three MSF boats have rescued more than 16 350 people.

Following conflicts in Syria and Afghanistan, they have also assisted a further 1 166 with safe passage to Italy, after they were rescued by other boats.

‘There are currently over 59-million displaced people in the world, individuals and families forced to flee their homes into uncertain futures due to war, oppression and unlivable conditions,’ said Kelly Barlow, the MSF Southern African Travel Teams Coordinator.

‘Our teams work hard to help them survive by providing medical care.’

*MSF is registered as a Non-profit Company and as a Public Benefit Organisation and donations made towards its programmes can be accounted for a corporate BBB-EE scorecard.
