Springboks crush US Eagles
South Africa tops Pool B and will play the losing team of Saturday's Australia-Wales clash in the quarter-finals.
						THE Springboks officially booked their place in the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals by trouncing the USA 64-0 in the Boks’ final pool game tonight (Wednesday).
With this bonus point victory,South Africa tops Pool B and will play the losing team of Saturday’s Australia-Wales clash in the quarter-finals in ten days’ time.
After an uninspiring first-half and leading only 14-0 at the break, the Boks went into overdrive and eventually ran in nine tries (plus a penalty try) to overwhelm the Yanks.
Apart from the penalty try, tries were scored by wing Bryan Habana (3), flanker Francois Louw (2), midfielders Damian de Allende and Jesse Kriel, hooker Bismarck du Plessis and wing Lwazi Mvovo.
Flyhalf Handre Pollard kicked four conversions and replacement flyhalf Morne Steyn slotted over three.
