Police recover 91 packages of dagga

eSikhawini police recovered drugs and stolen goods in eMadukwini.

NINETY one packages of dagga were recovered by police in the eMadukwini area in eSikhaleni.

While conducting a random search in the area on Tuesday at 6.30am, a bag of dagga was found in one of the homesteads.

According to eSikhawini police, the stash was hidden in an outside toilet. Two suspects aged 19 and 20 were arrested and charged with being in possession of an illegal substance.

Police also recovered Hi-Fi equipment and a tablet in a house behind the Top A Store in J1 section.

Team leader Warrant Officer Murray Scottmason, said police received a tip-off from community members.

Five suspects were arrested for being in possession of stolen goods, and another for purchasing stolen items.

The police team also recovered an unlicensed firearm near Dlamvuzo High School.

It was later revealed that the 9mm pistol was robbed from an officer several months ago.

One suspect was arrested.

eSikhawini police spokesperson, Lt Thembinkosi Mkhumane, warned the public not to purchase stolen property, and urged them report suspected drug dens in the area.
