National motocross returns to Teza

The 5th round of the SUNOCO Super Series being run on Saturday, 11 October at Motocross Valley outside Teza.

DESPITE the ongoing drought, motocross action returns with the 5th round of the SUNOCO Super Series being run on Saturday, 11 October at Motocross Valley outside Teza.

The racing, which was due to have taken place in August, was postponed owing to the dry weather, but organiser Janine van Eeden says water carts may have to be brought in to prepare the track if the rains do not come.

The cream of South Africa’s motocross riders will be in action as they chase down valuable points in the series as it nears its conclusion.

Spectators will be able to see handlebar to handlebar racing, which can only be provided by the youngsters on their bikes.

It is not often that national motocross events are run outside the major cities and the organisers hope for a good crowd to cheer on the riders.

The Teza track is considered by the riders as one of the top venues in South Africa as they love the GP styled circuit.

Riders will compete in all classes from 50cc right up to 450cc.

There are generous amounts of prize money up for grabs and this should ensure tight racing at all levels.

The entry fees for spectators are R40 per adult and children under 13 years of age are free.

This event should be one of the major highlights of the Zululand’s motorsport calendar for 2015.

There will be a full bar and catering tent available.

All classes will run on Saturday, including the practice sessions followed by the heats in both the junior and senior classes.
