Life sentences for Ncube killers

Ncube was shot dead near his home in Vryheid while collecting his livestock last year

NATIONAL Freedom Party (NFP) president, Zanele KaMagwaza-Msibi, has welcomed the conviction and sentencing to life imprisonment of two men found guilty of assassinating the NFP leader and Induna from the Cibilili area of KwaMathema in July last year.

Ncube was shot dead near his home in Vryheid while collecting his livestock.

On Friday the High Court in Madadeni in Newcastle sentenced Bongukuthini Sibiya and Ngcedezi Khumalo to life imprisonment after they were convicted of Ncube’s murder.

‘Our leader, Mr Ncube’s only sin was that he supported the NFP and we are delighted that his killers have now been sentenced.

‘Although their imprisonment is not going to bring back Ncube, at least it will console his family that justice was done.

‘As the NFP we say no parole should be given to people convicted and sentenced for political killings.

‘Would-be political assassins will know what awaits them if they kill people who differs with them on political grounds.

‘This sentencing brings hope that justice will also be done relating to the killing of more than 20 NFP leaders since the party’s inception,’ KaMagwaza-Msibi said.
