
AMID vibrant pomp and ceremony, and with police top brass present in numbers, the Mambuka Satellite Police Station was officially opened on Sunday.
Taking the salute and raising the national flag at the Transnet-sponsored facility were dignitaries including National Minister of Police – Nathi Nhleko, National SAPS Commissioner – General MV Phiyega and KZN MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison – Willies Mchunu.
Other VIPs included uThungulu District Mayor – Cllr Thembeka Mchunu, Inkosi Mchazeni Mthiyane and Transnet Group Executive – Nonkululeko Sishi.
But it was the thousands of invited locals from the crime-hit Ntambanana community who celebrated the loudest at the official opening of the modern and well-equipped police station.
For them, the sights and sounds of the smartly-dressed police marching band and troops added colour to a significant event that heralds a positive improvement in their safety.
