UPDATE: Men sentenced for albino woman’s murder

Two of the three suspects on trial for the murder of Manguzi's Thandazile Mpunzi pleaded guilty to murder.

TWO of the suspects accused of murdering Thandazile Mpunzi, a Manguzi woman who suffered from albanism, pleaded guilty on Wednesday at the Vryheid Regional Court.

Mandla Mabuza and Lindokuhle Khumalo, both 19 years old, were convicted and each sentenced to 20 years’ imprisonment.

Bhekukufa Gumede, the so-called preacher who was also arrested, is still in custody, denying the allegations against him.

The fourth suspect, a minor, had already been released by the court.

After her disappearance early last month, the 20-year-old’s dismembered body was found in a shallow grave, after what is believed to have been a muthi murder.
