IN the quiet dead of night on Tuesday, a security guard on duty at an Alton engineering company was ambushed by three men wielding a panga, knife and a sharp steel object.
The robbers threatened and tied up the victim at around 12.45am, demanding money as well as his firearm.
When they realised he had nothing on him, they forcibly opened the door to the company’s store room and took a cellphone, stainless steel sheets and tools.
After damaging computers on site, they fled the scene.
A case of business robbery was opened.
The Richards Bay SAPS are still looking for the suspects.
