Auction action – new game in town
‘People have realized they no longer need to have a black mark against their name to auction their properties’

IN the past year, scores of posters advertising upcoming auctions have popped up along the City of uMhlathuze’s streets.
Everything from houses and cars to office equipment, commercial properties and heavy machinery are falling under the hammer.
And according to XState Auctioneers Manager, Faye Fakroodeen, the reason for the visibly growing trend is quite simple.
‘People have realized they no longer need to have a black mark against their name to auction their properties.
‘In the past, there was this stigma attached to auctions and homeowners felt reluctant to go this route, believing it would appear as though they were in trouble with the bank.
‘These days people acknowledge that it is just the fastest way to sell.
‘You do not need financial issues to auction any goods.’
Fakroodeen said the most popular items going up for public sale in Richards Bay and Empangeni are vehicles.
‘Cars are very popular in the area, but we strangely do not see a lot of yellow metal (construction and mining equipment) going up for auction in Zululand.’
