CHIVALRY proved to be dead when a KwaMbonambi man was arrested and charged for allegedly murdering two of his lovers by strangling them to death almost three weeks ago.
After making a first appearance earlier this month, Vusi Thabethe, who is still in custody, is expected to re-appear at the KwaMbonambi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 17 September.
Zandile Zikhali of K16 village was reported missing on 26 August and sadly found dead after a ferocious manhunt was initiated tracking police directly to the residence of Thabethe.
In addition, the suspect was subsequently linked to a second murder of Thembeka Thetwayo.
Upon his arrest, it was found that Zikhali and Thetwayo were actually lovers of Thabethe and were murdered a few days apart of each other.
KwaMbonambi station commander Colonel Mgenge led an extensive manhunt with officers, special unit members (VISPOL) and detectives who were able to trace Thabethe by tracking the cell phone of Zikhali.
Local police officers visited the bereaved Zikhali family bearing gifts of money and food donated by personnel to sympathise on their loss.
